Finally, Paul and I are working on a tour. Summer is rapidly coming upon us and once again on the longest day of the year - this genius is going to be crossing the desert. Yes, yes, yes, I am driving from Austin to Oakland - right through the thick of it.To quote one of the many terrific Texas song writers, “You can drive all day - and never leave Texas.You can drive all night, and never leave home.” - Butch Hancock.

Dates are coming in on the west coast from Santa Cruz to Alaska in July and August. If you are out that way and would like to present us in some capacity please drop me a line.

Firehose

I feel everything

and nothing simultaneously.

There is mean things happening in this land.

Oh, the rich man boasts and brags,

While the poor man goes in rags.

Pity and anger flow from the same spigot.

It is a fire hose of emotions,

pointed away from the flames,

because,

I just want to roast marshmallows on this dumpster fire.

I feel nothing

and everything simultaneously.

Oh, the farmer cannot eat

’Cause he’s raised too much wheat.

There is mean things happening in this land.

I love you,

but how can I?

When numbness enshrines this broken kaleidoscope

aimed at the heavens,

masking the stars.

I hate you,

but fear not for I hate everybody,

which is kinda like hating no one at all.

I would love to say, “I hate no one,”

but I can’t.

Only because I love so much

I no longer recognize my own emotions.

Too much cotton in our sacks,

So we have none on our backs.

I am so numb,

I can’t even feel my own hatred.

I can’t feel the compassion, the sorrow, the empathy,

the joy.

Perhaps I have simply lost my trust in human beings.

And dang, I love human beings.

Or at least I did.

I will miss you.

That loss is something one can never get back.

Lots of groceries on the shelves,

But we have none for ourselves.

Perhaps it is that I have lost my faith.

It is broken.

Shattered.

It has had a great fall

and all the kings horses

should just have their heads placed in a guillotine

once and for all.

But when workers all refuse

To be blinded and abused,

There’ll be good things happening in this land.

Perhaps,

it is the betrayal of a stranger

or maybe the devotion of an enemy

that has publicly gone on the down-low

to give handjobs

to inanimate objects.

The flowers are rusting

and the robots are taking target practice.

No one will ever forgive me for giving a damn.

There’ll be good things happening in this land.

When the workers take a stand

How can the world be upside down

when the infinite knows

no direction at all.

No up.

No downside.

But somehow it is just that:

Upside down.

Our limp moral compass drifts aimlessly.

The North Star is anonymous in this lonely galaxy.

Even the excellence in this world,

excellence which cannot be denied,

can not out run its own

stupidity.

And I do not know how to feel about that.
