Wait --- Wait --- Wait just a second here. We MUST have a sec for a rare but still important crass commercial announcement It is from our sponsor um me.
Ya see It is done! The new CD is finished. It is named after the first thing ya say to a hitch hiker: "So, Where Ya Headed?"
Ya see The whole CD seems to be a conversation with a stranger about the road and the places it takes you. Paul Benoit seems to play the part of an amazing radio station that just keeps picking the right tune.
It is fully recorded and mixed and wow does it sound good. My best studio effort in years!
All due to Paul Benoit Paul-Benoit-Music. He is nothing short of a world class slide, roots and Americana guitar player living in Seattle, El Salvador and Paris. He both accompanies on and produced this new record. "So, Where Ya Headed?"
I am posting a song from it -- for a few days -- that seems to fit the theme of this newsletter at Listen-NOW!
The thing is, now I have to pay to have it to be manufactured, and you too can help!!! by doing one of the following:
1) Purchase an advance copy. I will send you a signed copy of the new CD for $20 bucks including postage.
2) Become an executive producer and have your name in the liner notes! For a donation of a hundred dollars ($100), I will include whatever name you like in the liner notes and send you a signed copy as soon as it is done.
Either one would be a huge help!!!!!!!!!!

Who would Jesus leave uninsured?
The blind? The Leper? The paralytic?
Yes, this is two months in a row I have written on this topic. Health Care. I guess because as an uninsured person I am being selfish and writing on a topic that is important to me.
I still have hope. I just seem to be out of change.
I worked hard to help elect our current president, as I am sure many of you did. I remember that the phrase was (and is) "Yes, WE can!" not "Yes, HE can!"
He needs our help here. Please write your congress people.
Contact-Congress
Tell them that making sure all Americans are covered by health insurance is the right, moral and YES, American thing to do.
It would help to renew both our national self image as well as our image in the eyes of the world. Change indeed.
I believe that we Americans are indeed a moral people the word "American" came up as a synonym for the word "moral" on this very word processor (really). Well, we are -- even if we disagree on many important issues. We should at least agree that we have a moral imperative to join the rest of the industrialized world and find a way to provide health care for all.
Where is the "Pro-Life" crowd here? It seems to me there is not a bigger "Pro-Life" issue than well life.
Where is the "Pro-Life" crowd when insurance companies refuse to pay for life saving treatments? Sarah Palin is right. There are "Death Panels." They are sitting not just at the heads of insurance companies but in tiny cubicles pushing tiny keys sending tiny signals across tiny wires for a tidy profit: DENIED DENIED DENIED.
We want to eliminate these death panels (oddly, most of them are Pro-Life).
There IS health care rationing. The determining factor of who lives and who dies is income.
What part of a great and moral nation would allow that to happen?
What part of a great and moral nation would allow astronomical profiteering on the misfortune of others?
What part of a great and moral people would stand by and let private corporations unelected and having no responsibility to the citizenry decide which of the citizenry lives and dies?
Both John Mc Cain (vicariously including Sarah Palin) and President Obama ran on the issue of health care reform. But the issue has become politicized. The other side has turned away from it. Not because they believe that providing health care is the wrong thing to do, but because many of them would rather do the wrong thing than give the democrats credit for the most important piece moral legislation since the Civil Rights Bill.
Providing health care for all is more difficult to pass than a bill assuring civil rights for all because the money at stake is much greater.
After-all, it wasn't until them uppity nigras in Birmingham started flexing their financial muscle by boycotting the buses that anybody paid them any never-no-mind.
It has nothing to do with right or wrong. There is a lot of money at stake. That is why the insurance industry is spending billions to prevent it billions that should be being spent on providing health care for those they said they would insure.
They know full well that before there was State Farm... There were good neighbors.
And that is what we all could be. Good Neighbors.
I am always people jeer, "Your tax dollars at work." How about, "Your premium dollars at work?"
It is clear just by how much is being spent to stop national health care that there are billions and billions in profits being made.
I know, from my own experience that there are decent and honorable people that do not agree and for decent and honorable reasons.
Their argument goes, "Health care is a privilege, not a right." They believe this. They believe that giving someone a hand up disables them. They believe that requiring health insurance prevents them from learning self determination.
But no one is asking for a handout here. And didn't Jesus say, "That which you have done for the least among us you also have done unto me?"
The right thing to do is er left.
Why not, as Thom Hartman pointed out Thom-Hartman
Let us simplify the argument.
Let all of us (the public)
have the choice (option)
to buy into Medicare.
That is: Medicare for all.
If you like having an insurance company with a CEO who makes literally 4 million dollars a year in salary decide your fate, than you (also the public) can do that (also an option).
Let's just make sure that CEO is taxed enough to cover the people he decides should fall through the cracks.
The policy is left. The Price is right.
Let's end the death panels and health care rationing that currently exist.
After all
who would Jesus leave uninsured?

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of a long-time labor activist and friend Julius Margolin (1916-2009).
A child of the Depression; an organizer and member of the CIO; who served in the Merchant Marine and as a member/organizer of the National Maritime Union during World War II; survivor of the blacklist that pulled him off the boats in 1949; a proud member of IATSE Local 52 and delegate to the NYC Central Labor Council; a lifetime honorary member of both AFM Local 802 and the New York City Labor Chorus, and countless other organizations;
lover of all working people and the struggles they engage in; and since 1998 a singer/songwriter and performer for all good causes.
Julius Margolin died this month in New York City at the age of 93.
Good-bye Julius. I am proud to have known you and called you friend.
You can leave your remembrances of Julius here: click on the "sign guest book" button after clicking on this link: www.georgeandjulius.com-Julius-Remembrerances
